Mauricio PochettinoBack to the domestic scene then after a week of international distraction. More on the World Cup qualifiers so far over the weekend.

Spain – La Liga: Saturday’s early kick-off sees Getafe host Barcelona, while the defending champions Espanyol and ex-player manager Mauricio Pochettino (pictured)  welcome Real Madrid to their brand new 40,000-seat stadium at Cornellà-El Prat on Saturday with the visitors keen to chalk up three points and to put on a better defensive showing than their 3-2 home victory to Depor in week one.

The late game on Saturday sees Sevilla at home to new boys Zaragoza. On Sunday Valladolid host Valencia and Villareal go to Mallorca.

England – Premier League: Battling Stoke are at home to early leaders Chelsea on Saturday, while Liverpool are at home to new boys Burnley, who have had a reasonable start including a victory over Manchester United.

United are off to Tottenham who are the only other team besides Chelsea to have a 100 per cent record so far. Also on Saturday, Manchester City play host to Arsenal.

Sunday’s big game is the Birmingham derby, with City at home to Aston Vila.

Italy – Serie A: Lazio host Juventus on Saturday, with the visitors flying high thanks to the explosive start made by new midfielder Diego, who scored twice last time out in the 3-1 away win at Roma. AC Milan are away at Livorno and need points and a decent performance after they were hammered 4-0 by city rivals Inter in their last match.

Inter are at home to Parma on Sunday and Fiorentina host Cagliari.

Elsewhere in the German Bundesliga early leaders Hamburg host Stuttgart and Bayern are away at Borussia Dortmund. Cologne host Schalke on Sunday and Werder Bremen are at home to Hannover.

Portugal’s Liga Sagres sees Porto at home to Leixoes, while table-toppers Braga are at Maritimo. Benfica are away to Belenenses.

Finally in Ligue 1 in France champions Bordeaux are at home to Grenoble and Lyon host Lorient, while Marseilles are away at Le Mans.
