Manuel Pellegrini The Weekend PreviewSpain – La Liga: We’re finally underway in Spain on Saturday as Real Madrid host Deportivo La Coruna and new boys Real Zaragoza take on Tenerife, who also came up last season.

Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso are all expected to feature for Madrid, and there will be much talk over the tactics of new Real coach Manuel Pellegrini (pictured).

On Sunday Valencia host Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are away at Malaga, while the third promoted side, Xerez, are off to Mallorca.

Barcelona host Sporting Gijon on Monday night, with the hosts without Lionel Messi who is jetting off to join the Argentina squad ahead of their World Cup qualifying clash with Brazil on September 5.

England – Premier League: Chelsea host Burnley while top of the table Tottenham are at home to Birmingham. Liverpool travel to Bolton and already need to avoid a defeat to keep their title hopes intact having gone down 3-1 at home to Aston Villa on Monday. All eyes will be on Old Trafford for the late kick off as Manchester United play Arsenal.

Italy – Serie A: we already have a Milan Derby as AC face Inter in the San Siro on Monday night. Inter boss Jose Mourinho gave the press a mouthful for sitrring up tensions after he linked Sulley Muntari’s supposed weariness to Ramadan.

“I know what I said. I said ‘you can’t criticise the decision of Muntari because it is a question of faith and religion’. That means I accept it, I never said Muntari must forget his faith” he told them.

Roma play Juventus on Sunday and Fiorentina host Palermo on the same day.

Elsewhere In the German Bundesliga we have an early season blockbuster as Bayern take on Wolfsburg – the hosts are on a bad run and need three points off the defending champions to get back on track. However, they should be boosted by the news Arjen Robben has signed for them from Real Madrid.

Further afield and in Portugal, Porto are off to Naval and Benfica play Vitoria Setubal on Monday, while on Sunday Sporting go to Academica.
