The weekend round-upIn Serie A the first round of fixtures saw Milan win 2-1 away at Siena thanks to a brace from Pato and a strong performance from Ronaldinho.

Juventus managed a 1-0 victory over Chievo at home thanks to a strike from Vincenzo Iaquinta (pictured) but Inter could only draw 1-1 at home to Bari, although Samuel Eto’o chalked up his first league goal for his new club.

The Premier League recorded easy wins for Manchester United and Chelsea, away to Wigan and Fulham respectively, while Arsenal also rolled over Portsmouth at home.

Liverpool went down 3-1 at home to Aston Villa on Monday night, meaning the reds have taken only three points from their first three games to up the pressure on manager Rafael Benitez.

The German Bundesliga saw defending champions Wolfsburg lose a 4-2 thriller at home to Hamburg, while Bayern Munich also lost away at Mainz. Bayern are now languishing in 14th having taken just two points from their first three matches.

Early leaders Bayer Leverkusen beat Freiburg 5-0 away and Werder Bremen cleaned up Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 at home.

In Portugal, Porto breezed past Nacional 3-0 at home and Benfica scraped a 1-0 win away at Guimaraes. Braga lead the table after two games having won 2-1 at Sporting on Saturday.
