Who?: A left winger from Argentina, hovering on the edges of the Sevilla squad in La Liga who could take his first truly eye-catching steps in Spain this season.
He was largely indistinguishable from a clutch of similar wingers scrapping for first team action at Spain’s top clubs until he netted a goal in the last minute of a game against Deportivo La Coruna last season to guarantee third place and a Champions’ League spot for this side.
Aged 21 and an Argentine national with a bit of pace and a lithe physique. Can hit a shot too and not bad in the air despite his skinny stature.
Some Stats: He’s 1m 79cm tall and carved a name for himself at Sevilla in the club’s ‘B’ team, where he made 52 appearances and scored three. He now has 14 first team appearances and that single crucial goal to his name. Signed from Club Deportivo Moron, a somewhat obscure Buenos Aires side.
Clubs Interested: Having only just begun to figure for Sevilla, the rumour mill is yet to start grinding. Should he appear more regularly, however, expect Real Madrid to be ‘interested’ immediately.
Has been compared to: Diego Capel, another Sevilla winger who came through the youth system, thanks to similarly elegant and dashing style.
They say: “Last season he frequently competed with Capel, already an established talent in the Sevilla side and the Spanish game in general, for the starting position on Sevilla’s left flank.
“This season, Perotti should have a breakout year as Sevilla look to contend for the Liga title as well as the Champions League.” – Goal.com
Other stats: Has amassed 730 minutes of playing time in those 14 first-team appearances and has one yellow card to his name. Impressed in the 2009 Toulon youth international tournament, where he scored against the Netherlands and caused them all sorts of problems into the bargain in a 4-0 win for Argentina.
Video: Here is giving Numanica plenty to think about in a league tie last season, and here’s a stunning strike as a consolation goal in a reserve team defeat.
