PROFILE: Keirrison

Posted on | April 26, 2009 | No Comments

keirrison-wpcWho?: He’s a 20-year-old Brazilian striker currently playing for Palmeiras in his home country. Quick and possessing good technique, he’s also a cool finisher and looks soon to move to Europe.

Some stats: He’s a whisker under six feet and reasonable in the air. He’s hit 65 in 122 appearances for Palmeiras.

Clubs Interested: Plenty. Barcelona and Lyon are the latest to be linked to him and have reportedly sent scouts in the last month or so. Negotiations could be interesting as he’s majorty owned by a sports investment firm, as is increasingly the case with high-profile South Americans. Oh, and now Milan are interested too apparently. Plus Liverpool, Valencia, Real Madrid, Scunthorpe, Huesca……

Has been compared to: Ronaldinho. Odds on he’s faster than his elder countryman these days though. He’s also more of an out-and-out forward than the Gaucho.

They say: “Under the tutelage of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, K9 can only improve. By the time his contract expires with Palmeiras in the middle of the year, Keirrison will be a much better player and his owners, the football management group Traffic and Coritiba, will be getting read for a big payday.” -Pitcaco do gringo

Other facts: His full name is Keirrison de Souza Carneiro, and as yet he’s not managed a single call up to the full Brazil squad despite his scoring streaks.
